I burned $6,800 on Etsy before learning this.
True story: I spent 14 months designing 400+ digital printables — wedding planners, budget trackers, wall art, you name it.
My sales? $312 total. My ad spend? $6,800. My ego? Demolished.
Then I stopped designing what I LIKED and started designing what the algorithm REWARDED.
Here’s the 3-Filter Niche Rule that flipped my dead store into $90/day on autopilot:
🔍 Filter 1: Search Volume Under 10K
Everstyle the obvious. If a keyword has 50k+ searches, you’re competing with sellers who’ve been there for 5 years. Sweet spot = 2k–10k monthly searches. Hungry buyers, low noise.
📊 Filter 2: Competition Under 200 Listings
Type your keyword into Etsy. If you see “10,000+ results” — run. Under 200 listings means you can rank on page 1 within weeks, not years.
💰 Filter 3: Buyer-Intent Keywords Only
“Cute printable” = browsers. “ADHD medication tracker printable” = buyers with credit cards out. Add words like: checklist, tracker, template, planner, log. Specific problems = instant sales.
My winning niche after applying this? Boring. Unsexy. Wildly profitable. (Hint: it solved a real problem for a small group of people.)
Stop designing pretty things nobody searches for.
Start solving tiny problems people are already typing into the search bar.
That’s the whole game.
💾 Save this before Etsy gets more saturated.
